IHLS Member Survey

The Illinois Heartland Library System (IHLS) is currently undertaking a strategic planning process. We are gathering input from a broad range of IHLS member libraries. To that end, we are conducting a web-based survey to evaluate member library satisfaction with current services and identify future needs. Using the survey results, along with the results of focus group interviews conducted this March, the IHLS Board will meet this July to draft our next plan.

System Services

As you may be aware, the Illinois State Library has submitted a draft update to the Administrative Rules related to the Illinois State Library System Act to be adopted by the Joint Committee on Administrative Rules (JCAR).  You will find the complete text in the Illinois Register here.  Our sister system Reaching Across Illinois Library System (RAILS) has analyzed the proposed rules and posted that analysis here.

IHLS Funding News

IHLS recently received $1,903,762.75 of its FY2015 funding. These payments included $659,722.21 of Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) funds, $513,707.20 General Revenue funds, and $730,333.34 Live & Learn funds. To date we have received 56.5% of the total $3,364,429.41 allocation or FY2015.

Many thanks to Anne Craig (Director, Illinois State Library) and Jesse White (Illinois Secretary of State and State Librarian). Their continued support is much appreciated as we strive to deliver core services in innovative ways to our members.
