Director - Scott County (Iowa) Library System

Our current director is retiring; therefore the Scott County (Iowa) Library System Board of Trustees seeks a dynamic, community-focused Director to lead our customer friendly, talented and dedicated staff into the future. Scott County Library system is a taxing body and part of a twenty library consortium, RiverShare Libraries, in the Quad Cities in Iowa and Illinois. The consortium shares one ILS and provides seamless service to all twenty libraries.

The Scott County System is in a rural setting serving a population of 28 thousand consisting of six branches and one bookmobile utilizing a shared, rotating collection. The vital position requirements include a working knowledge of 21st century public library trends and their supporting technologies, the ability to anticipate and manage change, exceptional interpersonal skills, and the ability to hire, manage and develop professional and support staff.

A successful candidate will hold a Master’s degree from an American Library Association-accredited school and demonstrate management skills and budgetary prowess.
