Deadline to Start Participating May 1:
SHARE members that would like to start participation in the 3M Cloud Library shared collection on May 1, 2014 should email Lesley (before April 17) or Chris Dawdy (after April 17) by Friday, April 25. You’ll pay a prorated member fee when you start in May. If you’re unsure about the cost for your library, simply fill out the 3M member fee request form and return it to Lesley or Chris.
Non-SHARE libraries are welcome to sign-up to participate in the Baker & Taylor Axis 360 shared collection at any time. Simply fill out the request for membership participation fee form and email it to: email@example.com. For more information, visit the RAILS eRead Illinois page.
Important Information for our School Libraries:
Summertime Plans: As we get closer to summer vacation, I’ve received several questions about e-book access for your students. As long as your student’s patron accounts are not deleted each summer, they will still be able to check out 3M e-books. For those schools that block holds, your students will still be able to access 3M e-books, but they will be unable to place holds on items in the 3M Cloud during the summer.
3M Filtering Update: The only news we have is that… “We’re still working on it.” Although working with technology is always complicated, we have another conference call with 3M and Polaris coming up and we hope to have a fabulous new update after that. Rest assured we’re working hard to make sure that once we can implement our filtering solution, it will be easy and work like a dream!
This week we posted an updated and current collection list for the 3M Cloud Library shared collection to the IHLS eRead Illinois page. We’re at 4800+ unique titles! Be sure to check this page often for new information such as promotional materials, important documents, and links to recorded trainings.
3M Tip of the Week:
Did you know that you can read 3M e-books even when your device isn’t connected to wifi? As long as the book you’ve checked out has downloaded completely to the “My Books tab”, it will be readable the next time you open the app whether or not an internet connection is accessible. To ensure that a book has been downloaded completely, simply open the book at least once on your device before leaving a wifi zone.
We love hearing from you! Feel free to contact members of the project team with questions and suggestions:
