eRead Illinois Newsletter
January 9, 2014

With all of this snowy weather, e-book checkouts are soaring!

Participating Libraries:
We’re so happy to have 115 SHARE libraries signed up to participate in the 3M Cloud Library shared collection of the eRead Illinois project. The initial sign-up period ended on Friday, January 3. Did you miss it? Let us know this month that you would like to participate and we’ll get you started at the beginning of February. Your library will pay a prorated member fee, rather than paying for the whole year. Need an adjusted quote? Email Lesley at lzavediuk@illinoisheartland.org and we’ll get you one.

The Baker & Taylor Axis 360 shared collection for non-SHARE members officially launched on December 16. Libraries and readers are welcome to visit http://ereadil.axis360.baker-taylor.com and select RAILS from the drop down menu. On this page, it is possible to explore the catalog and search options as well as the help page. Non-SHARE libraries are welcome to sign-up to participate at any time, simply fill out the request for membership participation fee form and email it to: ereadillinois@railslibraries.info. For more information, visit the RAILS eRead Illinois page.

Collection Development:
SHARE members have already started using their shopping carts to make purchases for our shared collection. In fact, our participating libraries selected over 100 titles to add to the 3M Cloud last week. We should also have some exciting news for participating school libraries in the coming weeks. We’re working with 3M to come up with solutions regarding your students and access to adult content.

Don't forget that Friday is 3M Purchase Day. Participating libraries are not obligated to make purchases each week, but can choose to do so at any time. If you do want to purchase titles in a given week, please make sure that the items in your cart are finalized by noon on Friday. After purchases are made, we’ll send you an email to let you know the total amount you spent that week, and any titles that we may have removed due to over-purchasing of copies. Remember, this is your chance to have a say in what our shared collection looks like.

Training:
Three 3M Cloud Library virtual trainings have been scheduled in January (dates below). We’re also contacting area libraries this week to set up some live sessions. We’ll be publishing these sessions on L2 and in this weekly newsletter so that you won’t miss one that will work best for you.

We’re also interested in knowing what kind of training you would like us to provide in 2014. Please take a few moments and fill out this brief survey to let us know what would be the most beneficial for you and we’ll do our best to meet your needs!

Non-SHARE members can look forward to live B&T Axis 360 trainings in late January, stay tuned for updates.

Promotion:
