Did you know that…..
This week saw the release of an IHLS Request for Information (RFI) for a replacement automation product for the four IHLS LLSAP’s. The deadline for vendor submissions is September 2, 2011. The LLSAP Working Group, comprised of representatives from each LLSAP, will coordinate evaluation along with library membership input and product demonstrations. All of this work will be necessary to determine how the current 4 different automation systems can be replaced with one automation system for all members.
IHLS - Carterville is home to the Illinois Machine Sub-lending Agency (IMSA). IMSA is a division of the Illinois Network of Talking Book and Braille Libraries with primary responsibility to maintain Talking Book equipment and accessories and to circulate the equipment and accessories to Illinois residents who are registered for the service. IMSA is also the support center for patrons in need of advanced assistance with the Braille and Audio Recording Download (BARD) service.
IHLS – Champaign location manages a grant to process the accounting functions for ILLINET (Illinois Library Information Network), a division of the Illinois State Library that contracts with OCLC. ILLINET provides the services of OCLC to more than 2000 libraries in Illinois. OCLC is the producer of the OCLC WorldCat database, the world’s largest electronic database of bibliographic information and also provides cataloging records, electronic resources, and many other services to libraries in Illinois.
