Moving Forward Together
August 19, 2011
A great way to end the week!!
The Illinois Heartland Library System is pleased to confirm the receipt of funding from the FY2011 System Area & Per Capita Grants. The total received of $1,074,211.56 combined with previous payments represents 78% of the FY2011 funding for the four merged Systems that created IHLS. We appreciate the continued support and assistance from the Illinois State Library as we navigate this challenging fiscal period.
The IHLS Board of Directors will meet Tuesday, August 23rd in Champaign. Agenda and meeting documents are now available. If you would like to attend and are interested in carpooling, contact the closest system office. Chances are we've already arranged greener travel!
What's New at WebJunction-Illinois:
With all of the changes in Systems that have occurred, keep in mind that WJIL is a terrific resource for library staff and board members.
Help Design the New WebJunction.org
In response to member survey feedback about the website and to better reflect WebJunction's evolved mission and services, we will be redesigning and relaunching WebJunction.org in the coming year. We are looking for library staff who would be willing to participate in some usability tests of the site design this month. If you are available for a 2-hour session during August 24-26, please contact Sharon Streams at email@example.com. No previous experience with WebJunction.org or website design is required, and testing can all be done online from the comfort of your own desk. Thank you!
Now Mac users can learn MS Word!
It’s true, WebJunction now has desktop application skills courses for the Mac. We have just published 7 Word for Mac 2011 courses to our catalog. Over the next few months we’ll have courses covering the whole MS Office for Mac 2011 suite.
These are all one hour long, and aside from “Getting Started”, they are task-based topics to allow you to get right to learning the skills you want without needing to wade through extra material.
Word for Mac 2011 (NOTE: As of July 1, 2011, you must be signed in to WJIL in order to view and use the Course Catalog.)
If you have not already done so, please check the non-resident fee information we have for your public library on our web site. Please contact Bev Obert (firstname.lastname@example.org) with any changes or questions.
