Delivery Tip: What affects the amount of time it takes an item to complete its journey?
We want your patrons to receive their requested items as quickly as possible. The amount of time it takes for an item to travel from lending library to borrowing library is dependent upon multiple factors.
- The day the item is pulled from “Request Manager” i.e. Saturday when delivery is not running.
- When the borrowing library receives delivery. Not all libraries receive 5 days per week delivery.
- If item will travel from one hub to another hub via ILDS.
- Proper labeling
- Library days closed (staff meetings, construction, etc…)
- Holiday closures
- Wrong pick up destination chosen by patron.
- Media item case locked and must go back to home library to be unlocked.
The eRead Illinois Project Team needs your feedback!
There is still time to complete the eRead Illinois E-book Survey. We ask that your library complete the survey to gauge current e-book knowledge and technical expertise in the Illinois library community. The survey applies to e-books only and not to other e-resources such as magazines or databases.
You'll find the survey at: https://www.surveymonkey.com/
We are looking for one completed survey per IHLS library. Please have the person on your staff with the most knowledge about e-books complete the survey. The deadline for completion is Thursday, April 17, 2014.
Thank you in advance for helping us to make the eRead Illinois project as effective as possible. If you have any questions about the survey or the eRead Illinois program, please contact the eRead Illinois team at ereadillinois@railslibraries.

Member Spotlight – Photo Opportunity
While attending WorldShare ILL Training at the Sherman Public Library District, Libby Letterly snapped a photo of Library Director Anita Walters and Diane Yeoman, Mason City Public Library District, peeking through the Easter bunny glass painting that Anita's talented library clerk, Vickie Bryant, painted. So cute!
