IHLS Offices Closed Tomorrow
IHLS offices will be closed Friday, June 20, 2014, to allow staff to attend staff development training. Delivery and Talking Book Services will not be provided. We will be open and delivery will resume Monday, June 23, 2014, with extra routes if necessary to compensate for volume.
If you have an automation emergency while the IHLS offices are closed, please dial the SHARE help line at 618-534-4319.
Bob Towner Retirement
Bob Towner, Champaign Operations Manager, has announced his retirement after 37 years of system service. Bob’s last day will be June 30.
We thank Bob for his service and wish him a banging good time in his retirement (Bob is a drummer)!
IHLS Edwardsville Landscape Changing
"They paved paradise and put up a parking lot..." Joni Mitchell
Well that is kind of what is happening in Edwardsville on the land that we sold last year. It won't be a parking lot, but rather a Friar Tuck's which is a liquor store and more. The new building will be facing the same direction as the Target that is behind the Edwardsville building. We are in the process of determining how to re-stripe our parking lot for the maximum number of spaces. Stay tuned for more updates.
June Board Meeting Recap & Annual Meeting Photos
A recap of significant actions taken by the board at their June 16, 2014, meeting has been posted on our website. The next regular board meeting is July 22, 2014, 6:00 pm at the Helen Matthes Library in Effingham.
We would like to thank all IHLS members that took the time to stop by for our Annual Meeting. Photos from the IHLS Board Meeting and Annual Meeting have been posted on the IHLS Facebook Page. You do not need to be logged in or have an account to view the photos. Take a look, you may see someone you know.

Connect with Leslie Recording
Did you miss Connect with Leslie on Monday? Visit the Connect with Leslie page on the IHLS website to listen to a recording of the meeting. The first 10 minutes of the meeting covering portions of the Board Recap was not recorded.
We only thought our SHARE staff life would slow down after we'd been on Polaris for a year! However, we are as busy as ever, as we implement the tasks involved in the Dream Grant! Ellen Popit and Chris Dawdy have been traveling the expanse of the IHLS boundaries, talking to potential new members for SHARE. Traci Edwards is working with profiling for transitional members. Joan Bauer is currently working with several of the libraries to get their collections added to the Polaris database. Sue Pearson is providing circulation training to new members, and Blue Ridge Township Public Library is going live on July 1!
If your library is interested in joining SHARE and would like more information, please contact Chris Dawdy (firstname.lastname@example.org | 618.656.3216 x 443).
