As we mark the first day of the Illinois Heartland Library System’s existence, it is important to communicate with our membership. As we work together during the next several months, it is communication that will be our strongest tool.
You'll see plenty of changes over the next several weeks and months. You'll see staff e-mails that end in "illinoisheartland.org" and when you make a phone call the voice on the other end might say something like "Illinois Heartland Library System, Decatur Office." Four separate websites will go away and be replaced with one and the delivery vans will be part of the Illinois Heartland fleet.
What will remain the same is the commitment on the part of all involved to provide members with excellent service as we support all aspects of resource sharing in Illinois. Our shared catalogs will become stronger, interlibrary loan and delivery will continue to make an expansive collection of materials available to Illinois library users and our sub-machine lending agency will continue to support the needs of the Blind and Physically Handicapped.
Please note that the first meeting of the Illinois Heartland Library System Board of Directors will be held on Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Effingham and the agenda will be posted on the Illinois Heartland Library System website (Board of Directors) You can also visit the website to access the staff list with current e-mail addresses and telephone listings.
We look forward to working together as we strive to support Illinois libraries.
