Borrowing non-traditional resources from the Giertz Ed Center

Please provide this information to staff members who process requests on SHARE and assist patrons with borrowing prints or objects from the Giertz Education Center.
Thank you.
REQUESTS FOR PRINTS OR OBJECTS FROM GECS-ZCH
Poster Prints or Art Objects that are REQUESTED from GECS (the Giertz Education Center at Krannert Art Museum) are transported in portfolios or plastic bins.  The Ed Center staff places an item request for the borrower on the portfolio or bin in which the print(s) or object is transported to the borrowing library.
The Barcode for Art Objects is not on the object, but is attached to a 3x5” card that accompanies the object when it is loaned.
The receiving library staff should:

  • Check-in BOTH the Portfolio/Bin AND the Print(s)/Object to find out who requested them.
  • Check the Print/Object AND the Portfolio/Bin out to the user when the borrow picks up the item.
  • Check both the Print/Object AND the Portfolio/Bin back in when it is returned,
  • Return the Portfolio/Bin, with the Print(s)/Object inside, to GECS-ZCH.

REQUESTING AN ITEM THAT IS PART OF A SET FROM GECS-ZCH
Many prints that are published as a set are loaned to borrowers as individual items by GECS (Giertz Education Center) They are entered in Polaris under a set title, but the separate image artists and titles are searchable and requestable. Each barcode listed on title record for a print set is for a different print or guide, rather than a duplicate copy of the title.
Borrower should place ITEM REQUESTS on separately listed prints in sets, so they receive the specific item that they need.
