Rare Book Conservator - UIUC

Position Available:  This position is available as soon as possible.  This is a 100% time, twelve month appointment Academic Professional position in the University Library.

Duties and Responsibilities Reporting to the Head of Conservation, the Rare Book Conservator is responsible for the conservation treatment of rare and unique bound library materials, generally those requiring individual treatment, as well as keeping written records and photo-documentation of such work.  The Conservator will perform complex conservation treatment on rare book and special collections materials including re-sewing; leather and vellum rebinding and binding conservation; gold and blind tooling; conservation of paper and parchment, including aqueous and chemical treatment, and the creation of custom protective enclosures for a variety of rare and archival materials.  The Conservator will assist in the preparation of rare and special collections materials for exhibition, complete condition assessments and assist in the management of preventative care.  This position will provide conservation support to locations holding rare book and special collections materials by arranging workflow and identifying treatments in close consultation with collection managers and aiding in the development of care and handling guidelines for such materials.

The Rare Book Conservator assists the Conservation Unit in general training and education programs, working with practicum students and volunteers, and participating in overall conservation planning, program development, research, disaster planning and response.

Head of Technical Services- Decatur Public Library

Decatur Public Library is seeking a Head of Technical Services with an ALA-accredited MLS, and cataloging experience in a public library. Work involves all aspects of TS; acquisitions, cataloging and processing of all library materials.  Thorough knowledge of Dewey Decimal Classification, Library of Congress Subject Headings and AACR2, with considerable familiarity with OCLC and RDA.  Knowledge of and experience with library automation systems.  Minimum 3 years’ experience, with original cataloging experience is required.

Director of the LRC - Olney Central College

DESCRIPTION:                   The Director is the primary administrator responsible for the basic organization and operation of the college’s Learning Resource Center.  Duties include budgeting, selecting and supervising personnel; acquiring and evaluating print/reserve materials; coordinating requisition of equipment appropriate to educational support needs; and supervising open computer lab.  The Director will also supervise development and administration of grants to enhance LRC services.

Part-Time Courier Driver - IHLS Edwardsville

We are looking for responsible individuals to deliver material to area libraries. Our part-time courier drivers work a flexible schedule, averaging 2 days a week, 7.5 hours per day.  Drivers must have a valid driver’s license, be in good physical condition, able to lift a maximum of 40 lbs, and able to follow directions. Electronic Resources Management Librarian - University of Chicago

Home of one of the largest and richest research collections in the world, The University of Chicago Library provides access to an extensive number of e-resources including purchased and licensed serials and electronic books. The ERM Librarian plays a key role in the coordination and management of content supplied by over 500 producers as well as freely-available content. The collection currently contains around 2 million individual electronic titles.

Reporting to the Associate University Librarian (AUL) for Collection Services, the ERM Librarian provides leadership, vision, and direction for electronic resources management in a library that has made it a strategic priority to ensure users can take full advantage of resources.  The ERM Librarian establishes standards for electronic resources management, assesses whether standards are being met, and recommends and implements changes to improve electronic resources for Library users. Representing the University of Chicago Library at professional conferences and meetings, and maintaining professional networks and collaborative relationships with other libraries, the ERM Librarian both remains abreast of changes affecting electronic resources management and assumes an active leadership and advocacy role within the field.
