The Manteno Public Library District, Manteno, IL is seeking to fill the open position of Library Director.  Our Library serves the diverse needs of the 12,440 population, and employs an experienced staff of 16.  The annual circulation is 115,633.  Our Library is known for its programs, excellent staff, interaction with the schools and Village administration, and quality service. This position requires a strong combination of leadership and administration skill.  The Director is responsible to:

  • Employ, develop, train and maintain an excellent support staff
  • Prepare, control, implement and manage the annual budget
  • Communicate effectively with the staff, the Board, local civic and business organizations,  and schools
  • Actively pursue grants and other fund raising opportunities
  • Understand all Library operations including application of technology

Local History Archivist/Librarian - Decatur Public Library

Decatur Public Library is seeking a Local History Archivist/Librarian with an ALA-accredited MLS, and archival management experience in a related field. Work involves all aspects of collecting, organizing, preserving and providing access to a non-circulating collection of primary and secondary sources that document the history of the City of Decatur, its inhabitants, government, environment, businesses, institutions and organizations.  Materials related to the history of Macon County, its communities and Illinois genealogical, archival and library collections in the area will also be maintained in cooperation with other historical organizations.

Mahomet Public Library District serves Mahomet Township (population 12,600) and is located 10 miles west of Champaign-Urbana.  We are seeking an energetic, enthusiastic and creative individual to serve as our Youth Services Librarian.  Major responsibilities include:

  • Develop the children’s and young adult collections
  • Plan and implement youth programming, including preschool story time, school-age programs, and the summer reading program.  
  • Assist library patrons, primarily youth, with reference and the use of digital and print resources.
  • Promote youth programs and services via print and media
  • Assist with planning and implementation of occasional adult programs

Director - Streator Public Library

The Streator Public Library, Streator, IL, is seeking a full time Library Director.  The library in this community of 15,000 has a $200,000 annual budget.

The Library Director supervises 3 full time and 3 part time employees. Administrative experience with strong technology background is necessary.  Bachelor's degree with library experience is required, MLS or MiLS preferred.

The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Library seeks an innovative, intellectually curious, and service-oriented individual to provide subject expertise for multidisciplinary programs in the biomedical sciences, and to develop a service program designed to support the growing needs of the biomedical teaching and research community on the Urbana campus. The successful candidate will serve as liaison to programs in biomedical research, bioinformatics, clinical medicine, bioengineering, and medical translational sciences and will join a team of librarians addressing health information needs across campus, developing plans for research support services, and building on established collaborations with the University of Illinois at Chicago's Library of the Health Sciences.
