Circulation Assistant (part-time) - O'Fallon Public Library

The O’Fallon Public Library seeks a friendly, positive, enthusiastic, tech-savvy, customer-oriented individual to fill a part-time position at our busy Circulation Desk. Last fiscal year, more than 150,000 people visited the library and more than 380,000 items were checked out.

 

Primary duties include assisting library customers in person or by phone, performing all duties associated with an automated circulation system, processing library card applications and orienting patrons to library services, assisting customers with book selections and using the SHARE catalog.  May also be assigned to assist with special events or work on projects as assigned by the Circulation Manager or Director. 

Youth Services Assistant - Edwardsville Public Library

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. The Youth Services Assistant shall assist the Youth Services Librarian in planning and providing special events, which will encourage children to appreciate books, reading and self-expression, i.e.: story times, summer reading programs, puppet shows and other literature activities. 
  2. The Youth Services Assistant shall assist in the provision of library services, i.e. staff supervision, circulation, reference, readers’ advisory, book selection and computer assistance. 
  3. The Youth Services Assistant shall design and prepare program-related art materials, i.e.: murals, bulletin boards, posters, decorations, storyboards and other program aides.
  4. The Youth Services Assistant shall promote the library and its activities through public relations and community outreach.

Librarian (Public Services) - Illinois Valley Community College (Oglesby)

The Public Services Librarian links the IVCC community to information sources and equips students for success by teaching students to acquire and evaluate needed information in the classroom and at the library’s reference desk.  The ideal candidate for this position will provide one-on-one and group instruction to faculty, staff, and students in the use of traditional and online information sources, as well as provide a full range of reference services and information counseling as well as coordinate circulation activities.

Librarian I (Adult Services) - Bloomington Public Library

Adult Services is seeking a friendly, helpful, creative, knowledgeable Librarian I.  Our information service is busy and evolving. The successful candidate will love working with all kinds of people and have the ability to adapt to an ever-changing environment. 

A key element of this position is creating and coordinating engaging programs that support lifelong learning and keep people coming to the library. Leading book discussions and seeking grants to support programs, program series, and presenters are also key responsibilities. 

Providing excellent customer service is a primary focus of this job.  Customer requests are fulfilled thoroughly and accurately in person, by phone, and via electronic means at the Adult Services Desk.  Helping customers with their electronic needs is a growing request.  The successful candidate will be knowledgeable about a variety of current technologies including ereading, computer use, and training.

This Librarian I creates the daily desk schedule for the department and will use Sharepoint to post it. 

Other responsibilities include shelving returned materials and shelf reading for accuracy; assisting with library-wide initiatives/programs; and working in other departments when there’s a need. 

This position is a member of the Adult Services department and reports to the Adult Services Manager.  The schedule currently includes mornings, afternoons, evenings, and rotating weekends. The hours of this position change as departmental needs change.

Library Director - Dubuque County Library (Iowa)

The Board of Trustees of the Dubuque County Library is searching for a knowledgeable, visionary leader to serve as Library Director. The Director will work with the Library Board and staff to develop a 21st Century vision of library services that meets the present and future needs of our patrons throughout the five-branch library system. The Director will be the “face” of the library as well as the internal leader and listener with a focus on developing strategic directions for both community and staff.

Governed by an appointed nine member Board of Trustees, the Dubuque County Library serves a suburban/rural constituency of 29,000. The Director supervises a staff of eleven (five full time) with a $700,000 budget and an annual circulation of 110,000 (a 25% increase from the previous fiscal year). Within the last four years, two new branches have been added to the library system. Two of the five branches exist through unique partnerships with a public middle school and a community college. In addition, a new joint municipal/library facility with a branch city is currently in the fundraising and design phase. The Library actively participates in formal agreements and informal relationships with other public, university, and private libraries in the area. The Dubuque County Library is in a position to reach its potential through innovation and dynamic leadership.

Technology Manager - Wood River Public Library

Wood River Public Library is currently seeking an innovative, self-motivated, enthusiastic Technology Manager. This part time position averages 18 hours per week, with evening and weekend hours. The technology manager is responsible for  maintenance and upkeep of all Library technology, including  hardware, software, and networking for 13 patron-use computers, 6 staff computers, and 2 dedicated catalog computers. The Technology Manager is also responsible for maintaining the library's website. The Technology Manager answers directly to the Library Director, and will have other duties as assigned, including basic Circulation Desk functions. Applicants should be comfortable working with the public and training patrons on basic computer skills, e-readers, and other technology.  Evening and weekend hours required. Technology manager must have experience working with networks and website design.

(IMSA) Patron Services Coordinator (Talking Books Program) - IHLS (Du Quoin)

The Patron Service Coordinator fills daily orders for machines and assists patrons with Braille and Audio Reading Download (BARD) downloads and related BARD issues for the entire state of Illinois. Promotes Illinois State Library Talking Books and Braille Service (ISLTBBS) through networking and outreach efforts. Participates in the National Library Service and KLAS data-management conferences. This a grant funded position.

IT Specialist - IHLS

The IT Specialist supports staff hardware and software. This position works with the IT Director to implement and monitor the functions of the network and computer systems, as well as software.

Library Director - Elk Grove Village Public Library
