Position Available: Position available immediately. This is a 100%, twelve-month, tenure-system appointment.   Appointment rank will be appropriate to the qualifications of the candidate selected. For appointment with tenure, candidates must meet requirements for tenure at the University of Illinois, which includes expectations for librarianship, research and service. Permanent appointment as History Librarian; appointment as unit head is for a renewable term dependent on unit needs and directions.

Responsibilities:  Reporting to the University Librarian, the History Librarian and Head of the History, Philosophy, and Newspaper Library (HPNL) will provide leadership for and supervision of library services to students, faculty, and other scholars using HPNL. The History Librarian is a member of the University Library’s Arts and Humanities Division.

Adult Circulation Clerk – Edwardsville Public Library

The Edwardsville Public Library is seeking an enthusiastic, customer oriented individual to fill a part time circulation position at our Adult Service Desk.  The position requires between 8-16 hours per week (including two Sundays and one Saturday shift per month).  The ideal applicant will be friendly, have experience working with the public, and be able to work independently.

Primary Duties:

  • Receives assignments from the reports to Circulation Supervisor and Library Director
  • Performs circulation desk responsibilities accurately and efficiently
  • Completes all materials check-in processes, evaluated items for needed repair and organizes carts for shelving
  • Answers telephone and directs calls to appropriate Library staff
  • Performs basic reference/readers advisory functions
  • Performs check-in of all delivery materials and notifies patrons of holds
  • Assist with teaching new technology to patrons
  • Promotes library programs

Library Director - Morris Area Public Library District

Morris Area Public Library is seeking a community-minded individual to serve as Library Director.  Located in the Morris historic downtown business district, the library serves a population of approximately 20,000 patrons.  The library director is responsible for supervising all library operations.  The director, under the direction of the board of trustees, will serve as a liaison to the local community.  Responsibilities include developing programs, maintaining collections, and managing staff.  The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational, leadership and communication skills, with an ALA-accredited Master’s Degree in Library Science and previous supervisory experience.
