Moving Forward Together
August 19, 2011

A great way to end the week!!

The Illinois Heartland Library System is pleased to confirm the receipt of funding from the FY2011 System Area & Per Capita Grants.  The total received of $1,074,211.56 combined with previous payments represents 78% of the FY2011 funding for the four merged Systems that created IHLS.  We appreciate the continued support and assistance from the Illinois State Library as we navigate this challenging fiscal period.

Did you know that…..

This week saw the release of an IHLS Request for Information (RFI) for a replacement automation product for the four IHLS LLSAP’s. The deadline for vendor submissions is September 2, 2011. The LLSAP Working Group, comprised of representatives from each LLSAP, will coordinate evaluation along with library membership input and product demonstrations. All of this work will be necessary to determine how the current 4 different automation systems can be replaced with one automation system for all members.

The Illinois Heartland Library System’s Board of Directors met on Tuesday evening, July 26 at the
Carterville Office.

A significant highlight of the meeting included a report from the Executive Director Search Committee.
The committee recommended five finalists for the board’s consideration. Those finalists are: Leslie
Bednar, Tracy Byerly, Pat Boze, Beverly Obert and Adam Wright. Mr. Wright declined to pursue the
position, so the remaining four candidates will be interviewed by the Board of Directors.

LLSAPs in the Heartland

Local Library System Automation Projects (LLSAPs) are a benefit to members of Library Systems in Illinois.  Within the Illinois Heartland Library System, four automation consortia are working together toward a common, shared platform.  Together, the SILNET (Carterville), LINC (Champaign), Decatur LLSAP, and GateNet (Edwardsville) have more in common than you may realize!
